Nuwagi Celebration 09

1. Brought new rice and ginger from Village:

Father had asked uncle to bring rice and ginger-new one not of the previous year from Village 'Khartuwa'. According to my knowledge, Nuwagi is all about offering new food of this year to our ancestor’s.
2. Invite relatives:

Group of same community is always an essential thing in society so for this celebration we had invited our closest relatives who are residing in Kathmandu. Kaakas, Kaki, Boju, Baaje, Phuphu, Daju were in the list.

3. Cooking:

We need to cook a lot of varieties of food (including alcohol) to offer to our ancestors.

5. Offer to ancestors.

A special arrangement is made before the main entrance of the house to call them and have those foods. They are called by joining hands with great respect and accept the food. Priests perform the rituals back at village but today it’s difficult to find the priest so elder people (male) performs all the rituals. 6. Eat together

6. Eat together:

After that the new rice is cooked and feed to the guest along with the different varieties of food.

7. Farewell to relatives.

Realatives chit chat with each other and the day ends with the farewell to home and the Nuwagi ends.
